Energy Management Solutions

When you need to use multiple high-demand equipment that have the same load demand, we have the product and installation know-how to efficiently share the electrical demand without the need for a service upgrade. For example, if you have an electric oven and need to add a hot tub or Electric Vehicle (EV) charger, this normally would require you to upgrade your service to 200A. We have the Canadian-made equipment and installation experience to accommodate the new load without the need for an expensive upgrade to your service demands requirements.

Currently, going electric does make the most sense when you use that government incentive to install Level 2 (240 V) charging at home. You cannot plug an EV into a Level 1 (110V) socket and expect to only charge at home. If you want the job done right, and done once, Trust Adrian and Urbanite Electrical Services. I can vouch for his integrity and knowledge to provide a system that will be safe, and reliable.Urbanite installed my charger in Charlottetown 4 months ago. I can plug in every 7-10 days if I wanted to drive between 10%-80%. Given I could charge at home for 17c/ kWh, I plug in every day and set my battery max charge to 50% during the week. When the car is plugged into the house, a schedule automatically preconditions the cabin and battery to be nice and toasty for the kids on chilly mornings. My car will do about 300km round trip in the winters, and over 400km around town in the summer. Most of my daily trips are less than 50km. The small bump on the power bill to completely erase my gas bill has been working out fabulously. Some people will need more range than I do, or road trip more frequently than I do. A regular gas hybrid is the solution for anyone not ready to make the switch. Some people may consider spending some of the incentive on buying an EV with a bigger battery.

Energy Management FAQs

Energy management services encompass a variety of initiatives and techniques to control and reduce the energy consumption of buildings and equipment.

Typically provided by electricians with specialized knowledge in energy systems, these services can include energy audits, installation of energy-efficient lighting and appliances, implementation of energy management systems, and renewable energy retrofits.

An energy audit is a comprehensive examination of a home or business’s energy use.

The audit identifies areas where energy is wasted and provides recommendations for improvements that can lead to substantial savings on utility bills.

It can include checks for leaks, insulation deficiencies, inefficient appliances, and more.

An energy management system is a framework of computer-aided tools used by operators of electric utility grids to monitor, control, and optimize the performance of the generation or transmission system.

In buildings, these systems control and monitor energy-consuming equipment to ensure optimum performance and cost savings.

Yes, electricians can install smart home devices like programmable thermostats, smart lighting systems, and energy monitors.

These devices can be automated and remotely controlled to help homeowners manage their energy use more effectively, potentially resulting in lower energy bills and increased comfort.

Often, there are various government or utility provider incentives, rebates, or tax credits available for homes and businesses that invest in energy efficiency through energy management services.

These can reduce the initial investment and improve the return on investment for energy-efficient upgrades.

Upgrading to LED lighting is one of the simplest and most effective energy management measures.

LEDs are much more energy-efficient than traditional incandescent bulbs, use less electricity, and have a longer lifespan, which translates to substantial savings over time and reduced maintenance costs.

Electricians can install renewable energy systems such as solar panels or wind turbines.

These installations involve assessing the site for energy production potential, installing the necessary equipment, and integrating it with the building’s existing electrical systems.

Such installations can lead to energy independence and significant long-term savings.

While energy management services are designed to improve efficiency and reduce energy waste, the amount of savings can vary based on a number of factors, including the age and condition of the building, the specific upgrades made, and the behavior of the occupants.

In general, these services lead to reduced energy consumption and cost savings.

Energy-efficient upgrades reduce the demand for electricity, which in turn, can lead to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and other pollutants, especially if the electricity is sourced from fossil fuels.

This helps mitigate the environmental impact of energy consumption.

Look for electricians who are licensed and insured, have specific training and experience in energy management, and stay current with the latest technologies and practices.
